Acoustic Ceiling Tile

An acoustic ceiling tile is a factory-made panel designed to be installed in a suspended ceiling grid to provide sound absorption and reduce reverberation. Typically made from mineral wool, glass wool, or wood fiber, tiles are available in standard sizes (600×600 mm and 1200×600 mm) with various edge profiles (tegular, square, concealed). Performance is rated by NRC/αw (absorption), CAC (sound blocking between rooms via the plenum), and light reflectance. High-performance tiles achieve NRC 0.85–0.95, significantly reducing reverberation time in offices, classrooms, and healthcare facilities. Tested per ISO 354 (absorption) and ISO 10848 (flanking via ceiling plenum), acoustic ceiling tiles are the single most cost-effective acoustic treatment for most commercial interiors. Leading manufacturers include Armstrong, Rockfon, Ecophon, and Knauf AMF.
