Bass Traps — Acoustic Material Guide

Bass traps are specialised absorbers designed to control low-frequency standing waves and room modes that accumulate in corners. Constructed from high-density mineral wool or membrane absorber designs, they target the 63-250Hz range where standard acoustic panels are least effective. Essential for recording studios, control rooms, and critical listening environments.

Installation Notes

Bass traps are most effective when placed in tri-corners (where two walls meet the ceiling or floor). Floor-to-ceiling corner placement provides the broadest absorption bandwidth. Leave a small air gap behind the trap for improved low-frequency performance.

Typical thickness: 100-300mm
