Metal Panels — Acoustic Material Guide
Perforated metal panels, micro-perforated panels (MPP), and open-cell aluminium ceilings combine architectural aesthetics with acoustic performance. Metal panels achieve NRC 0.50-0.75 through perforations backed by acoustic fleece or mineral wool. They are the preferred choice for hygiene-critical, high-durability, and design-led environments where fibre-based products are unsuitable.

Installation Notes
Perforated metal panels require an acoustic fleece or mineral wool backing to achieve their rated absorption. The perforation rate (open area %) and hole size determine the frequency response. Micro-perforated panels (0.3-0.8mm holes) do not need fibre infill, making them suitable for clean environments.
Typical thickness: 0.5-1.2mm metal + 50-200mm backing
