Timber Panels — Acoustic Material Guide

Timber acoustic panels combine natural wood aesthetics with sound absorption. Timber slat panels, perforated timber panels, and plywood all serve different acoustic roles. Slat and perforated panels with acoustic backing achieve NRC 0.55-0.65, while plain plywood provides only low-frequency panel absorption. Installation Notes

Timber slat and perforated panels require an acoustic fleece and/or mineral wool backing to achieve their rated absorption. The air gap behind the backing affects low-frequency performance. Plywood panels mounted on battens with an air gap provide useful bass absorption through panel resonance.

Typical thickness: 12-30mm timber + 25-100mm backing
