Foam & Soft — Acoustic Material Guide

Acoustic foam panels are lightweight, open-cell absorbers made from melamine or polyurethane. They excel at mid-to-high frequency absorption and are the most accessible acoustic treatment for studios, broadcast rooms, and home offices. Available in flat, wedge, pyramid, and egg-crate surface profiles that increase effective surface area.

Installation Notes

Acoustic foam can be adhered directly to walls with spray adhesive or mounting tabs. For removable installation, mount on plywood backing panels. Check fire rating requirements: melamine foam is Class A, while some polyurethane foams may require fire-retardant treatment.

Typical thickness: 25-100mm
