Doors & Partitions — Acoustic Material Guide

Acoustic doors and movable partitions provide sound insulation between adjacent spaces. Rated acoustic doors achieve STC 35-55 with solid cores, perimeter seals, and acoustic frames. Movable partitions allow flexible subdivision of large spaces with STC 45-56. Both categories focus on sound blocking rather than absorption within the room.

Installation Notes

Acoustic doors require proper frame sealing with neoprene or silicone gaskets on all four edges, including a drop seal at the threshold. Movable partitions need head and floor seals and must be installed plumb to maintain their rated STC performance.

Typical thickness: 45-100mm
